Yamaha Variety Jet Trek
"Bundy to the Border"
Each year, the roar of jet skis can be heard down the Queensland coast as water-based adrenalin junkies raise thousands of dollars for kids in the annual Variety Jet Trek. Variety is a charity that raises funds to help transform the lives of sick, disadvantaged and special-needs kids in Australia. They work directly with individual families and organisations in their mission to empower these children to live, laugh and learn.

Hitting the open water from 'Bundy to the Border', Trekkers dropped by Rainbow Beach, Noosa, Bribie Island, Moreton Island, and Kingscliff, where they recharged their batteries with top-class food and fun-filled theme nights. But the event isn't for the faint-hearted. The jet skiers go full-pelt between stops as they cruise along aboard some of the most high-powered machines on the market.
This unbelievable experience is jam-packed with fun and colourful moments, highlighted of course, by visits to children and schools en-route. Participants not only complete a challenging ride and raise money for Variety but they also meet great people, have heaps of fun and see impressive parts of the Australian coastline along the way.

In 1990, the very first Queensland Variety Bash took to the roads, with the crazy characters in their wacky themed cars crossing creeks, tackling dirt and enjoying the adventure of the outback – all in the name of fundraising.
Since those early days, the event has grown exponentially and these lovable larrikins have collectively raised over $17 million for the sick, disadvantaged and special needs children of Queensland!
Vehicles must be 30 years old or older at the time of entry and be non-performance modified. The Bash is not a race, rally or speed trial. The single most significant rule of the Bash is to relax and enjoy the event away from everyday pressures, while seeing and experiencing the splendour of the Australian Outback.
Produced in partnership with DEEWR (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations), Dream It, Do It… Deadly! is a five-part series that shares the journey of Australian indigenous youth as they overcome personal challenges to find meaningful and fulfilling employment in a variety of fields.
Hosted by celebrated indigenous performer Christine Anu, the series aims to dissolve negative stereotypes sometimes associated with indigenous people and employment.
Each individual program focuses on a different field of endeavour – The Arts, Sport, Tourism, Mining and Rural Industries – and features life-changing stories of Indigenous Australians on training pathways to a better life… along with those who’ve already achieved accolades in their chosen field.

Yamaha Variety Jet Trek
"Mission Beach to Airlie Beach"

The 2009 Yamaha Jet Trek was an adrenalin-packed adventure on personal watercraft, travelling via some amazing coastline and scenery from Mission Beach to Airlie Beach. Participants experienced superb food, fun-filled theme nights and fabulous entertainment as they navigated an outstanding course off the coast of North Queensland.
The trek, which involved 40 participants travelling on jet skis along the North Queensland coastline, raised $150,000 in total after visiting Cardwell, Lucinda, Townsville, Ayr, Bowen and Airlie Beach. The money will go towards supporting sick, disabled and disadvantaged kids from Queensland.

Queensland Variety Explorer
"Here to the Hunter"
The 4WD Explorer is a 10 day adventure taking 4WD vehicles and their owners off the bitumen and on to challenging yet fun dirt roads and tracks. With an emphasis on the road less travelled, 4WD Explorers will navigate a safe, mapped and exciting course – soaking in the scenery, meeting the locals and having plenty of fun. Suited to anyone with an adventurous spirit who takes pleasure in the great outdoors, this event has been a hit in previous years, with places filling up fast.
The explorer caters for 4WD Enthusiasts of all abilities, with plenty of experienced drivers on the course, ready to help out if the need arises.
While the 4WD Explorer is designed for those longing to explore the great outdoors, the backbone of the event, as with all Variety events, is to raise money for Queensland kids who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs to live, laugh and learn.
